Industrial elements are currently a huge trend in interior design, and why not?  They can be incorporated into just about any design style from contemporary to traditional, modern to shabby chic and everything in between.

Industrial style pendants are perfect over an island in the kitchen.  Metal or glass fixtures add the perfect contrast to a space already heavy on wood finishes that are common in kitchens.

Industrial lighting can be glass too

An industrial style chandelier  or even 2 can make a statement over a dining room table.  The edison light bulbs seen below give the stylish chandeliers an even more contemporary look.

See how the industrial light fixture below plays off the gold branch pattern in the wallpaper below.  The room would otherwise read quite traditional, but by adding an industrial light fixture in aged brass, you bring an unexpected contemporary look to the space.

If you ask me, industrial style lighting will be around for a while.  With it's simple details, clean lines, and durable materials I can't see why would go back to polishing our grandmother's crystal chandeliers.  Well unless it's a schonbek of course!
